Meet Connecticut Divorce Attorney George Reilly
George Reilly has practiced client-centered family law involving divorce, support and parenting issues, post-judgment modifications and enforcement in the Stamford, Bridgeport and Danbury courts for nearly 25 years. While having tried numerous cases and motions to the Court, George is trained in collaborative divorce which focuses on negotiation rather than litigation in the divorce process. He is a member of the Collaborative Divorce Attorneys of Fairfield County (www.collaborativedivorcect.com). George is client-centric in that he counsels men and women to understand their rights, opportunities, responsibilities and reasonable expectations in legal proceedings so that clients make informed decisions and provide intelligent strategic direction. The matters he has handled have included parties with dependency and other mental health issues, abuse allegations, those seeking sole, joint or shared physical and legal custody, and clients with complex marital estates and elder law concerns. In addition to family law, George has experience in a wide array of legal issues including real estate, trust and estate planning along with business and entrepreneurship issues providing background for clients in planning and resolving such issues as a part of their family law matters. George is a graduate of Union College, Schenectady, NY and Fordham University Law School. He has practiced family law throughout his career beginning in 1984 with offices in Darien and Stamford. In 2008, Connecticut Magazine named George a “Super Lawyer.” Also in 2008, George received the “Family Champion Award” from the Connecticut Council of Family Service Agencies for his service on the boards of Center for Hope, Darien, CT and Family Centers, Greenwich, CT (2004 – date). The Center for Hope, which merged into Family Centers, provides counseling for individuals suffering from grief and the mental health effects of serious illness. Family Centers is the largest non-profit human service organization in the region providing a wide array of programs for individuals of all ages. In 2005, the Connecticut Chapter of the Fordham Law Alumni Association awarded George the “Distinguished Alumnus” award. In 2001, George received the Connecticut Bar Association’s Pro Bono award recognizing his more than ten years of pro bono representation of individuals in family law matters. In addition to serving the Board of Family Centers, George is an elected member of the Darien Board of Education and currently serves on the board of the Darien Kiwanis Club. Beginning in 2004 George was an active organizer, investor, director and secretary of Darien Rowayton Bank, a community bank originally owned in large part by members of the Darien and Rowayton community. George retired as a board member at the end of 2009. George was a member of the Board of Trustees of his high school alma mater, King Low Heywood Thomas in Stamford, CT from 1989 – 1998 and was its board president for seven years. George lives in Darien with his wife and three sons.
